Field Journal
To collect data about past climate, scientists go into the field to gather physical, chemical, or biological samples which are later analyzed in the lab. This field work can involve going to remote locations like the glaciers of Antarctica, caves on remote islands, or traveling on large sediment-coring ships on the ocean.
