Idealized single-forcing climate simulations
To study the climate response to different past forcings, idealized general circulation model (GCM) simulations were run in which climate was forced by a single forcing while all others were prescribed at preindustrial conditions. These simulations isolate the climate response to obliquity, precession, CO2, and ice sheets. Similar simulations were run with two models, and output from these simulations has been uploaded to Zenodo:
- GFDL CM2.1: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.1194479
- NCAR CESM: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.1194490 (Additional CESM data, including time series and ocean files, may be found at NCAR.)
Among other papers, results from these simulations are described in Model evidence for a seasonal bias in Antarctic ice cores (Erb et al. 2018, Nature Communications).
